Our four days in Bellegin, a charming little town nestled in the lush heart of New South Wales, proved to be an enchanting blend of quirky accommodations, vibrant local culture, and stunning natural beauty.

Upon arrival, we checked into the Bellegin Backpackers Hostel, known for its eccentric decor and warm, welcoming atmosphere. The mismatched furniture and colorful artwork created a delightful, quirky haven that perfectly set the tone for our stay.

The first evening we headed to the local pub, The Federal Hotel, famed for its live music and lively crowd. The walls were covered with posters of past performances, and we joined the locals as a band played classic rock. We enjoyed impromptu jam sessions and danced to the infectious rhythms — a fantastic introduction to Bellegin’s vibrant social scene.

The next morning we wandered through the town’s weekly market in the heart of Bellegin. The bustling stalls offered fresh local produce, handmade crafts, and artisanal goods. We sampled fresh fruits and vegetables, picked up unique souvenirs, and enjoyed chatting with friendly vendors who shared stories about their products and the region.

The absolute highlight of our trip was a day trip to Dorigo National Park, a short drive from town. Renowned for its ancient rainforests and cascading waterfalls, the park offered a breathtaking escape into nature. We hiked scenic trails flanked by towering eucalyptus trees and vibrant ferns, accompanied by the sounds of birds and rustling leaves.

Our destination was the famed lookout perched high above the park. The panoramic view over vast forested hills and valleys, with mist hovering above the treetops, was spectacular and humbling. The park has a rich cultural history as part of the traditional lands of the Gumbaynggirr people and contains some of the oldest rainforests in the world.
