8:00 – 11:00 | The Old City (Icherisheher)
Start your day inside the ancient walls of Icherisheher, Baku’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old City. This remarkably preserved medieval town occupies a hillside overlooking the Caspian Sea and is one of the most atmospheric places in the Caucasus. Wander through narrow cobblestone alleys lined with 12th–19th century buildings, ancient mosques, hammams, and caravanserais that once served Silk Road traders.
Location: Heart of central Baku, easily walkable from most hotels.
History: Continuously inhabited for over 1,500 years, it served as a Persian trading post, flourished under the Shirvanshahs, and later came under Ottoman and Russian rule.
