Chios Greece is the fifth largest of the Greek islands, situated in the Aegean Sea, 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) off the Turkish coast.
The island is separated from Turkey by the Çeşme Strait. Chios is notable for its exports of mastic gum and its nickname is the Mastic Island.
Tourist attractions include its medieval villages and the 11th-century monastery of Nea Moni, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Domestic flights depart Atens daily for Chios. There are also flights from Mytiline , Samos, Rhodes, Heraclion and Limnos during the tourist season. Flights alos travel to/from Thessaloniki during the summer.
Ferrys travel from Pireaus (Athens) daily.
Daily ferrys operate between Chios and Cesme in Turkey, the trip takes 30 minutes.
Anavatos is a deserted village located 19km west of Chios Town. Built on top of a hill, it is believed Anavatos was founded for military purposes, and to protect west coast of Chios.
The catastrophic earthquake of 1881 decimated the village and it was deserted, today it is a national monument for the island.
The old village preserves its Medieval frame with the fortress, the Church of Taxiarhis, the old school and the Church of Virgin Mary.
Is a small bay on the southeast coast of Chios with a black sand beach which is considered one of the best beaches on the island. Emporios was once a major trading port in the classical world.
Located in the same area was the settlement of Lefkonio (3.000 BC), of which traces were found during recent excavations and are now being exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Chios
Reputedly one of the best museums in the Greek Islands the museum contains: Letter of Alexander the Great to the Chians, Prehistoric and Archaic finds from the excavations of the British School at Emporeio, Neolithic finds of the British excavations at Aghio Galas, Archaic and Classical finds from the British excavations at Phana, finds from excavations conducted in the district of Chios.
